Oh my goodness!  It's been a busy few days.  I'm not sure why, exactly, but I sure feel like I have been chasing my tail.  I have too many projects going on, some of which must be finished before Christmas, and that is causing me to "shut-down" and get nothing done.

I need to be thinking about a baby shower, and just had Tater-Bug neutered this morning so he is a little needy right now.  I haven't even begun to think about Christmas shopping although I have started on some of the handmade items.  I'm afraid its going to slim-pickin's around here but that's fine with me.  Everyone is annoying me these days...I'm sure thats just the way I feel, but I really just want to check into a hotel for a while and disappear!  At least until after the first of the year!

And of course, can't forget to mention, this stupid sinus infection that attacked me overnight.  I feel like hammered dog poo and I exaggerate not!  I started popping Stinging Nettle, Garlic and Echinacia as soon as I got up this morning and then I got out the Neti Pot and am using it every so often.  I am not going to be sick cause I have way too much to do!!!  I mean it!!!

Texas Trash

Texas Trash

Seasoning Sauce

2 sticks Butter (the real stuff)
1 1/2 Tbsp. Chili  Powder
3 Tbsp Worchestershire Sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp Tabasco Sauce
Dash A-1 Steak Sauce
Dash Garlic Powder

Melt the butter and spices over low heat.  While the seasoning is melting, mix together the following.  Your gonna need a big container, I use my largest roasting pan.

1 bag Pretzels
1 bag Fritos
1 can mixed nuts
1 can cashews
1/2 box each of Corn, Rice and Wheat Chex
1 bag plain Bugles

Once the butter is melted and the "crunchy stuff" is mixed, gradually pour in the seasoning sauce. Toss as you go. Bake in a 200 degree oven for 1 1/4 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.

You can be as creative as you want with this.  I always make the sauce a bit spicier with more tabasco and worchestershire sauce, might even throw in a pinch of cayenne pepper or whatever is in my reach.  You can add sesame sticks, cheez-its, rye crisps, whatever you like.  No perfect way of doing this snack mix but it is sooooo much better than that bagged junk you can buy.

Enjoy!!!

Monday Memories

I have so many beautiful memories of Thanksgiving and family.  We always went to Grandmama's house!  All the aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that gathered there was an event to be seen!  Grandmama lived in a very tiny house, and there were a great many of us.  She had 8 children who had anywhere from 1 - 4 children of their own and then of course some of those children had children and so on... and then add in friends and friends of friends...Grandmama's house was quite full by the time everyone had arrived!  Grandmama is gone now and I miss those Thanksgivings of long ago, where love abounded and thankfulness was evident.  We no longer gather in that tiny house in the Piney Woods of East Texas, but my memories transform me back to southern cornbread dressing, turkey, ham, fried chicken (of course), chicken & dumplings, candied yams with gooey marshmallows on top, and so much more food than any one family would ever eat!

It is hard for me to pick just one thing from the gatherings at my grandmama's house but one thing that always stands out among all other memories is the rolls!  Not because they were good, which they were, but it is the manner of which they were served that makes me laugh a good long belly laugh!  Since the house was so small and moving around was quite difficult when everyone was there, if you wanted a roll you hollered "pass the rolls" and someone else would holler "DUCK!!!" and you better duck because next thing you knew a roll was flying through the air.  After awhile, nobody hollered DUCK!  We just immediately did so when we heard "pass the rolls"!

I hope you will take the time to enjoy your Thanksgiving memories!  Post a comment and let me know about your memory!

Happy Thanksgiving and may G-d bless you richly! ...  Oh! and "PASS THE ROLLS"!

Jesus Hold My Hand

Simple Woman's Day

Simple Day...

FOR TODAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2009...

Outside My Window... I see rain dripping off the roof of the house

I am thinking...about all the projects I have started and need to finish before Christmas

I am thankful for...the little bit of sunshine that seems to have popped out

From the kitchen...I smell the remnants of blueberry muffins that I baked for breakfast this morning

I am remembering... my mama!  I know how excited she would be about the pending birth of her first Great-Grandbaby!

I am going... to dig out Mr. Hubby's army pictures so I can get started on his Christmas present

I am reading...the book of James

I am hoping... Mr Hubby doesn't have to work on Thanksgiving.

On my mind... getting the carpet laid in the spare bedroom, which will eventually end up as a nursery/guest room, for grand-blessing visits!

Noticing that... the fur-babies have gotten really quiet

Pondering these words...

Idiots can't be identified through voting records, they can be found only by looking for people who hide behind stereotypes, embrace partisanship, and believe that bumper sticker slogans are a substitute for common sense
Around the house... Finally have a place to put all my small appliances now that the utility room has some awesome shelves

One of my favorite things~ snuggling with Mr. Hubby in the wee hours of the morning.

I am creating... a list of things I need to finish to day

I am hearing...Saturday morning cartoons.  No, there are no children here...Yes, I still like cartoons...Yes, I am a 46 year old woman!  LoL

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: no chiropractor or massage visits this week.  Lots of time for cleaning house.

Here is picture thought I am sharing... I am sooo gonna make these little cowboy booties...in pink!

Big News...Revealed!

Would you just look at these sweet little baby hats!  I bet you are wondering why I am buying baby things, right?  I am proud to tell you that my baby will have her own baby in April!  Yes, "The Princess" is going to  be a mama!  I am excited and am lifting both "Mama Princess" and "Baby Princess", up in prayer, as well as "Baby Daddy".

Oh and yes, we know it is a girl so ya'll know I am already eyeballing little dresses!  And you know, I have already started making things for "Baby Princess".  Shhhh....can't let "Mama Princess" know about that yet!

So I want to share some pics, from the first doctor visit yesterday.  I praise G-d and thank my sweet daughter for allowing me to go and I hope to walk every step with her... as she will let me!  You know how preggo's are... "Leave Me ALONE!"... "I Can't Stand You!" ...  you laugh, I know how this works!  LoL...thats ok!

So here are the pics.

"Mama Princess" waiting on the Dr.  No she's not about to cry, those are worry lines after she found out she would have to bare "All Her Glory" for the exam!  Modesty will be out the window from now on!

Baby Bump!!!  Yeah, that belly button ring is history!

And there is "Baby Princess"!  I don't know how they read these things...which end is this?

"Mama Princess" texting all her friends with the news!  Smiling big!  LoL...

Well there you go... Now you know the big news!

Snowflakes and Angels...

You know me! I've waited until practically the last minute to decide on decorations for our Christmas tree this year! And you know, those decorations are going to be handmade so that makes it even more insane to wait this long, right? Well that's just how I roll!!!

So, this year, I decided handmade crocheted angels and snowflakes along with cinnamon scented pinecones and birdnests, and tiny blue lights for sparkle...that's it, nothing more.  Simple, right?  Of course it is, except for the dozens of hand-crocheted angels and snowflakes!  So with the short amount of time I have to work on decorations for a tree that "didn't look that large in the store" but takes tons of little decorations to fill it...I decided to make large, yarn ornaments rather than the little delicate thread crocheted ones.  I really like the way they are turning out and I am even using fabric stiffner to make them hang a bit better, it probably isn't needed since I am using yarn though.  No lazy angel-wings here!   Here are a few pics of the beginnings of a "homemade Christmas" ...  I hope you will be inspired to make something homemade for your home too!
